Alexander Wang Responds to Sexual Assault Accusations
In light of recent controversy, designer Alexander Wang finally denied accusations of predatory and substance-fueled behavior.
How it started: Last December, model Owen Mooney publicly claimed on TikTok that Wang groped him at a club in 2017.
- Fashion watchdog groups Shit Model Management and Diet Prada shared Mooney’s TikTok on Instagram. Several anonymous users, who claim to have experienced sexual abuse from Wang, soon came forward on social media.
- On Dec. 29, 2020, a spokeswoman for Wang’s company declined to comment on the various sexual assault allegations.
- Two days later, Wang finally denied the accusations in a statement to Page Six Style via a rep: “Over the last few days, I have been on the receiving end of baseless and grotesquely false accusations. These claims have been wrongfully amplified by social media accounts infamous for posting defamatory material from undisclosed and/or anonymous sources with zero evidence or any fact-checking whatsoever. Seeing these lies about me being perpetuated as truths has been infuriating.”
- In the statement, Wang also claimed: “I have never engaged in the atrocious behavior described and would never conduct myself in the manner that’s been alleged. I intend to get to the bottom of this and hold accountable whoever is responsible for originating these claims and viciously spreading them online.”
