Adeline Rudolph to play Kitana in ‘Mortal Kombat’ sequel
“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” alumna Adeline Rudolph will reunite with fellow co-star Tati Gabrielle for a sequel to the 2021 film “Mortal Kombat.”
Rudolph will portray the iconic steel fan-wielding character Kitana, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Kitana was first introduced in the 1993 video game “Mortal Kombat II.”
Meanwhile, Kitana’s close friend in the “Mortal Kombat” games, Jade, will be portrayed by Gabrielle. Additionally, fan-favorite Johnny Cage will be played by Karl Urban.
The upcoming live-action sequel will see the return of filmmaker Simon McQuoid, who will direct with a script penned by Jeremy Slater. The film’s production is spearheaded by McQuoid, Michael Clear, Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh and “Aquaman” director James Wan.
Based on the popular video game franchise of the 1990s, “Mortal Kombat” follows a coalition of martial artists and warriors who defend Earthrealm from evil forces.
Besides “Mortal Kombat,” Rudolph will also star in Millennium’s upcoming film “Hellboy: The Crooked Man.”
