Businesses Across America Are Shutting Down For the Day And It’s Glorious

Today, thousands of people skipped work/school and businesses closed across the country for “A Day Without Immigrants”.

The closure highlighted the contributions that immigrants make to the U.S. economy.

The protest was also a direct reaction to the Trump administration’s anti-immigration policies, including his plan to build a ridiculously expensive wall and potentially deport millions of undocumented immigrants.

Restaurants and businesses all over the country joined in on #daywithoutimmigrants, with many announcing their closures prior to the day of.

How effective was this protest you ask? Here is a list of hundreds of restaurants in Washington D.C. ALONE that closed today. Een the Pentagon warned employees that popular concessions like Sbarro’s, Starbucks and Taco Bell would be closed and to expect longer lines at restaurants that were open, according to The New York Times.
