A 5-year-old kindergartner in China has become a dancing sensation after a video of her leading a group of outdoor dancers went viral on Chinese social media.
Dailan Jingyi, a young dance enthusiast from Chongqing, has been taking the lead in the nightly dancing sessions participated by seniors in the city’s Shapingba district plaza since last November, according to Xinhua (via SCMP). Jingyi starts her dancing lead duties at 7:30 p.m., grooving to more than 20 songs for an hour and a half each night.
Chinese netizens have dubbed her adoringly as “China’s youngest dancing auntie.”
Posted on Global Times’ Weibo account, the widely shared video featuring the mini dance instructor has so far garnered over 10,000 likes and thousands of shares. It has also been re-posted and circulated on various local and international social media platforms.
It was Hong Shuangshuang, the district’s lead dancer, who first discovered Jingyi’s  dancing potential and decided to train her. Despite learning dancing just last fall, Jingyi has shown tremendous skills and confidence in her moves. It took her just a few months before she became one of the group’s dance leaders.
Her popularity has grown since then, attracting huge crowds each night to come and join the dancing party at the plaza.
Netizens have nothing but praises for the adorable child’s dancing ability.
“This girl has excellent body coordination ability,” one Weibo user commented.
“She’s so good, I like her very much,” wrote another.
“The girl is going to be a leading figure in the future of China’s square dance,” another suggested.
