Olivia Rodrigo, Bruno Mars and H.E.R. were some of several Asian American artists to take home awards at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday.

The 19-year-old singer-songwriter Rodrigo took home three trophies for her wins in the Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance categories.

The Filipino American artist also performed her Grammy Award-winning debut single “Driver’s License” at the ceremony, against the backdrop of a suburban street and featuring an actual car.

In her acceptance speech for Best New Artist, Rodrigo teared up while calling the moment her “biggest dream come true.” Shortly after, however, while posing for some pictures, the star accidentally dropped and broke one of her trophies.

R&B duo Silk Sonic, which is composed of Filipino American singer Bruno Mars and Korean American rapper Anderson .Paak, won four awards throughout the night, including for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Song of the Year and Best R&B performance (tied with artist Jazmine Sullivan).

This year’s awards marks Mars’ third Record of the Year Grammy win. The pair also opened the 2022 Grammys with a performance of their single “777.”

Gabriella Wilson, better known as H.E.R., won for Best Traditional R&B performance. The mixed Filipino artist also performed two of her songs with Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Travis Barker, in addition to performing a rendition of Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way” with the legend himself.

Brooklyn-based singer Arooj Aftab became the first Pakistani to win a Grammy when she took home the trophy for Best Global Music Performance for her song “Mohabbat.” She will also be the first Pakistani artist to perform at Coachella this month.

K-pop boy band BTS was nominated in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, but did not win the award. The group received a standing ovation for their heist-themed performance of their 2021 pop hit “Butter.”
