Ðo Thi Hà, a 19-year-old farmer’s daughter from the countryside, recently outshone 34 other candidates to become Miss Vietnam 2020.
The 5-foot-8-inch beauty from Thanh Hoa, a north-central province was crowned with the title on Friday night, Tuoi Tre News reported.
Hà is a second-year student at National Economics University who works in fashion on the side, according to Angelopedia. She also works as a calf carrier and a server.
She first joined a beauty contest held by NEU before eventually participating in Vietnam’s most prestigious pageant.
To cover her expenses at the national competition in Ho Chi Minh City, Hà saved up and used her own money to work towards earning the crown.
Throughout her journey as a Miss Vietnam 2020 contestant, Hà’s parents and hometown have reportedly been very supportive and excited about her win.
Aside from the crown, Hà also received a cash prize of 350 million Vietnamese Dong ($15,100) and a spot to represent Vietnam at the Miss World 2020 stage.
Ho Chi Minh City’s Pham Ngoc Phuong Anh and Nguyen Le Ngoc Thao took the pageant’s first runner-up and the second runner-up spots respectively.
When asked if she thought she was a role model for young girls, the Miss Vietnam winner had replied she believed she had all the elements.
“I think whether I am a role model for young people or not, I always must inspire young people,” she said.
