A dermatology clinic based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam has inadvertently chosen what could possibly be the worst logo to represent a company specializing in skincare: a red-and-white umbrella emblem that mimics Umbrella Corporation’s logo from Capcom’s “Resident Evil” franchise.
To those unfamiliar, Umbrella Corporation is the fictional evil company responsible for unleashing a zombie outbreak into the Resident Evil universe, portrayed by the popular film and video game franchise.

After some digging, Geek Culture reports (via Kotaku) that the Vietnamese clinic Medcare Skin Centre actually exists, noting that the evil Umbrella logo was prominently featured all over the website. Several online publications also picked up the story, causing news of the clinic to go viral.
Medcare Skin Centre immediately took their logo down on their Facebook page after the news about the similarity circulated online. Despite the uncanny resemblance, the clinic has maintained that it’s merely a coincidence and added that a third-party designer was responsible for the blunder.
In a Facebook post, the clinic issued the following statement as translated by Dread Central:
“Dear Clients and Partners of Medcare Skin Centre and others of concern;
In the last few days, we have received feedback from the media and community that our logo resembles that of a fictional corporation (Umbrella Corporation) in the movie and game Resident Evil. We are very surprised to receive such feedback from the community.
We are very sorry the situation has occurred and is working internally to find the best solution quickly. Our team is highly specialized in taking care of skin conditions for our clients and logo design is completely out of our specialty and was consulted and completed for us by a hired third-party.
We understand the urgency of the situation; and are working to quickly to provide an appropriate answer to our clients, partners, community and to the movie and game producers and copyright holders of the artwork. We hope for your understanding that the situation is not an intentional infringement of copyright by Medcare Skin Centre.”
While this could actually be just one big misunderstanding, one can not discount the possibility that this may also be one of Capcom’s indigenous viral marketing stunts.
Regardless, it is quite interesting that for once, we got to see the evil logo in the background of smiling employees instead of hideous zombies and mutated monsters.
