One Video Sums Up the Emotional Cost of Becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel is a highly coveted title that hundreds of models aspire to, and a newly released behind-the-scenes video shows just how nerve-wracking the audition process can be.

Casting director John Pfeiffer reveals that out of 500 models who were submitted for consideration, only 44 made the final cut. In addition, new models were gifted wings and inducted into the new class of angels that includes Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

Brazilian supermodel Izabel Goulart, 31, tears up in the audition video as she explains what the fashion show means to her. 20-year-old Gigi Hadid nearly fell on her knees when casting directors asked her what she was doing in November.

The selected cast of angels include models from all around the world who flew in to audition from Russia, Brazil, Germany, Peru, Nepal, India, Denmark and Tanzania.

The fashion show will take place Nov. 10 in New York City and air Dec. 8. The special event will include musical performances by Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding and The Weeknd.
