‘Expats’ trailer: Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue, Ji-young Yoo star in Lulu Wang series

The official trailer for “Expats,” a six-part limited series starring Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue and Ji-young Yoo, has been released.
About the series: Directed by Lulu Wang and based on Janice Y. K. Lee’s 1998 novel “The Expatriates,” the series premieres on Amazon’s Prime Video next month.
Set in Hong Kong in 2014, the story revolves around three American women — Margaret (Kidman), Hilary (Blue), and Mercy (Yoo) — whose lives intersect after a sudden family tragedy. Actors Brian Tee and Jack Huston also star in the series, with the first two episodes releasing on Jan. 26, 2024, and subsequent episodes weekly until the finale on Feb. 23.
The trailer: The official trailer introduces each character’s dramatic storylines, delving into themes of marriage troubles, fresh starts and the challenges faced by the affluent expat community in Hong Kong. The series explores themes of privilege and the blurred line between victimhood and culpability.
