Awkwafina recently shared how she attempted to try out a popular diet trend but could not stand it for more than a day.
The actress recently shared in an interview with Women’s Health that she tried out some wellness fads and diets along with some exercise in preparation for her upcoming role in Marvel’s action film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”
According to the New York-based comedian, one of the diets she attempted months before filming her new movie was the keto diet, consisting of low-carb and high-fat foods.
“Recently, I did dabble a little bit in the keto diet,” the 30-year-old star was quoted as saying. ”I didn’t eat bread for a day. And sugar.”
She noted how the diet introduced her to eating healthy snacks such as broccoli, almonds, avocado, and watermelon.
“Broccoli. Very filling. And you can dip it in some stuff — you know, like ice cream,” she said in jest.
She also tried other diets but confessed to only staying on them for just a few days at a time.
Awkwafina, whose role in the superhero martial arts film is still under wraps, expressed that she is very willing to playing an action-packed character on screen.
When asked if she would start training for the role, Awkwafina responded with: “I am up for the challenge. Let’s do it. I wanna get jacked.”
While she joked that “lying down” was her favorite form of getting exercise, Awkwafina says she is committed to trying out different sports so she could stay fit.
“I like basketball, or tennis, or even tag. I’ll still play tag,” she said, adding: “I can’t just like, blindly run at nothing. I like to run towards something, like an ice cream truck.”
“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” which stars “Kim’s Convenience” actor Simu Liu, is set to hit theaters on February 12, 2021.
Meanwhile, Awkwafina’s new film “The Farewell” is currently out on a limited release and will be set for its nationwide launch in August.
