A Japanese fashion mogul is currently looking for a female “life partner” to accompany him on a flight to the moon.
Yusaku Maezawa, 44, is scheduled to become the first civilian to fly around earth’s natural satellite by way of SpaceX’s Big Falcon Rocket in 2023, having purchased all its seats in 2018.
Maezawa, who founded Zozo Inc., Japan’s largest online fashion site, is now worth $2 billion.
In an announcement on his website, the entrepreneur declared his quest to find a “life partner,” who must meet several requirements to qualify for the lunar trip.
The female applicant must be:
  • At least 20 years of age
  • Single
  • “Always positive” and has a “bright personality”
  • Someone who wants to enjoy “life to the fullest”
  • Someone who “wishes for world peace”
The application process, which ends on Jan. 17 (10 a.m. JST), is part of a “serious matchmaking documentary” called “Full Moon Lovers.”
Maezawa, who recently broke up with 27-year-old actress Ayame Goriki, will make a final decision by the end of March.
Aside from the requirements listed above, the applicant must have a genuine interest in going to outer space.
“As feelings of loneliness and emptiness slowly begin to surge upon me, there’s one thing that I think about: Continuing to love one woman,” Maezawa wrote. “While it’s something that is taken for granted by everyone, it’s something that I haven’t quite been able to do until now.”
“When I got the offer to go on this program, I was first taken over by emotions of embarrassment and pride, and I thought about refusing the offer. The more I thought about it, however, I started to think a chance like this might not come around again.”
Before he makes his final decision, Maezawa will spend time with selected candidates through “special” dates.
“I want to find a life partner. With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space,” Maezawa added. “I look forward to meeting someone amazing.”
Aside from his future life partner, Maezawa has expressed plans to bring artists with him to the lunar trip, provided that they create inspired works upon returning to Earth.
This is not the first time Maezawa made headlines for pulling stunts like these. Last year, he had a 100 million yen ($908,335) giveaway on Twitter, which earned him the record of having the most retweeted tweet in history.
