Thai man loses more than 20 lbs. after wife promises a PlayStation 5 as reward

A Thai man shared his successful weight loss journey on Facebook after his wife promised him a PlayStation 5 if he lost 10kg (approximately 22 lbs).
On Oct. 18, Prab Laoharojanaphan took to Facebook to share a “before” and “after” photo of his weight loss.
“When your wife said ‘lose 10kg and I will buy you a PS5,’” Laoharojanaphan wrote.
The PlayStation 5, which is still hard to find in Thailand due to stock shortages, retails for 15,690 baht (approximately $415) for the digital edition while the standard edition will set back gamers 18,690 baht (approximately $494).
To receive the gaming console reward from his wife, Laoharojanaphan took the challenge seriously as he endured a four-month long exercise and diet plan to lose more than 20 lbs.
In his Facebook post, Laoharojanaphan shared his strategy for those looking to emulate his achievement.
“Intermittent fasting: start from 16-8, then gradually reduce meal timing to 18-6 and 20-4 respectively,” he said.
Currently, the Thai man now alternates between eating from 20-4 on one day — meaning he only eats during a 4-hour timespan and fasts for the other 20 hours — and having one meal per day on the following day. He also recommended alternating between cardio and strength training for exercise.
As for the meal plan, he suggests an 80 percent keto diet with 20 percent treats, noting to “cherish the moments when dining out with friends or other special occasions.”
Laoharojanaphan also emphasized the importance of reading “The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss” by Dr. Jason Fung.
“We need a certain knowledge to understand complex causes of obesity and use that knowledge to create a strategy that fits our own body and lifestyle,” Laoharojanaphan said.
