On Wednesday, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television unveiled nine recipients ahead of Canadian Screen Week, which recognizes and celebrates the contributions of Canadian talents who have positively affected society and the film industry.
The “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” actor will be receiving the Radius Award, which recognizes “a Canadian whose work is making waves globally.”

The actor also played a lead role in CBC’s sitcom series “Kim’s Convenience,” which won the award for Best Comedy Series at the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards.
“I am moved beyond words to be the recipient of the 2023 Radius Award,” Liu said. “I’m grateful to the Canadian Academy for this tremendous honor and vow to continue pushing on towards a more diverse and equitable screen.”
“On behalf of the Canadian Academy’s Board of Directors, I offer a hearty congratulations to the nine remarkably talented recipients of this years’ [sic] Special Awards,” John Young, chair of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, said in a press release. “Each one of these honorees is a testament to how hardworking, dedicated, and talented our homegrown creative community is, and we look forward to celebrating them at Canadian Screen Week 2023.”
The awards will be presented during Canadian Screen Week from April 11 to April 16 in Toronto.
