Hello, everyone! 👋

Recently, Asian celebrities topped entertainment news with numerous concerts, award shows, and announcements. But, in the comedy realm, Asian women are here to be authentic, funny, and a lot more than what a headline can capture.

The Funny Asian Woman Collective (FAWK) uses comedy as a way to combat the “dehumanization and invisibility of Asian women.” This space allows them to use comedy as a way to be genuine, “uncensored, raw," and real.

Their show in Saint Paul, Minnesota will feature “eight Asian American, female-identifying artists with a combination of standup, comedic storytelling, sketches, and video work,” as well as a karaoke sesh at the end.

Race in America 🌎

It’s been a year since the mass shooting at the FedEx facility.

On Sunday, more than 300 attendees gathered for a prayer service honoring all eight victims at the Sikh Satsang of Indianapolis gurdwara, a Sikh house of worship.

In memory of their family members, the Sikh community gathered with other national and local groups to hold tribute and prayer services. The gathering also offered resources to the local Indianapolis community. While the shooting was determined to not be racially or ethnically motivated, the Sikh community mourns along with Indianapolis for all the innocent lives lost.

In Other Asian News 🗞

Protestors in Thailand gathered in front of the Democratic party headquarters against Prinn Panitchpakdi, the government official wrapped up in the country’s most high-profile #MeToo case.

Currently, Panitchpakdi is charged with three counts of sexual harassment and assault. Dancing outside of the building to the feminist anthem, “Sida Lui Faai,” or Sida Through Fire, the song embodies their message of societal victim-blaming.

The protesters also read a statement condemning the Democratic Party spokesperson for victim-blaming, expressing that such language only piles “more trauma and pain onto the victims.”

Coachella! The famous music festival in the desert surprised older k-pop fans with an onstage reunion.

Attendees only anticipated CL’s performance from 88Rising’s concert lineup, but she was joined by the rest of her world-renown South Korean girl group 2NE1, much to the awe of fans. The group spiced up the stage with a rendition of their hit songs while K-pop fans rejoiced at the surprising reunion.

For the “Queens of K-pop,” this was their first performance since their disbandment in 2016.

Similarly, at another concert venue in Las Vegas, K-pop fans were also excited about a surprise.

At the end of their 4-day concert line-up at Allegiant stadium, BTS played a teaser video, which announced their next album, We Are Bulletproof, dropping on June 10, 2022.
