Five Indian-Americans have been elected to Congress for the 2023-2024 year.

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, Shri Thanedar (D) will be the first Indian-American in Congress from Michigan. Meanwhile four Indian Americans already serving in Congress are expected to win their reelections.

Ro Khanna of California beat Republican opponent Ritesh Tandon with 70-30% in the 17th district, which comprises much of Silicon Valley. Ami Bera of California’s 6th district beat Tamika Hamilton 56-44%. Raja Krishnamoorthi is projected to win the 8th district race in Illinois with 78% reporting, a lead on Chris Dargis 56-44%. And lastly in my home state of Washington, Pramila Jayapal is projected to win against Cliff Moon in the state’s 7th district with 60% of the votes reported.

Would you rather live in the “Star Wars” universe or a Studio Ghibli universe?

As cool as force powers or lightsabers would be, I might opt for Ghibli because some parts of it are more peaceful. The food is better there too.

Sincerely,

Daniel Anderson
