Hello, everyone!

A new analysis has revealed that Asian voters in NYC leaned right instead of their typical left.

For instance, in the race between victorious Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul and Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin that took place in the Asian-majority 40th Assembly District in Flushing and Bayside, Queens, Zeldin carried. He also beat Hochul in the heavily Asian 47th and 49th Assembly districts in Brooklyn.

One voter cited safety as the primary concern for their Republican vote. “Safety is my top priority. The crime rate is growing too dramatic on the streets of Chinatown. What the Republican Party put forward is to solve the problem of public security and high crime,” they said.

  • Safety in NYC mocked: Journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones, founder of the 1619 project, mocked Asian Wave Alliance President Yiatin Chu after she tweeted about subway safety in New York. Chu wrote, “Paid $2.75 to be in a subway car with a loud and aggressive man threatening to hit his female partner. Switched cars at next stop to be in a public toilet / urine-odor, crowded car for the rest of my ride.” Hannah-Jones responded with “Yes, yes. This was absolutely unheard on subways until two years ago.”

  • Kimchi Day: Virginia will celebrate its inaugural Kimchi Day tomorrow. The date aligns with Korea’s own date for kimchi day as it is meant to represent 11 essential ingredients and 22 health benefits. Virginia Democratic representative Irene Shin proposed the bill and said, “We are home to one of the largest Korean populations in the country. The communities of Annandale and Centerville in Northern Virginia are vibrant and bustling population centers and hubs.”
