Asian Teen Murdered in the Street in San Francisco’s Portola Neighborhood

A 19-year-old San Francisco resident died from what appeared to be gunshot wounds last Thursday night. 
Identified by the city’s medical examiner as Kelvin Chew, the victim sustained injuries following an alleged shooting in the Portola neighborhood just after 8 p.m., according to SF Bay Media.
San Francisco Police arrived at Felton and Colby streets to find Chew on the sidewalk bleeding from his wounds at around 10 p.m., SF Examiner reports.

Conflicting reports stated he was either pronounced dead at the scene or he died at an area hospital.
While it was confirmed that the suspect used a gun as a weapon, it is was not officially stated whether he was actually shot. A vehicle was also reportedly involved in the incident.
As of this writing, any description of the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting has yet to be revealed to the public.
The case, which appears to mark the 17th homicide of the year in San Francisco, remains under investigation.
The authorities are urging anyone with any information related to the case to report via their anonymous 24-hour hotline at (415) 575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the beginning of the message.
NextShark has reached out to the San Francisco Police Department which said that its Homicide Detail is currently investigating.
“This is an active and ongoing investigation in the early stages,” SFPD said. “There is nothing to indicate that this was a hate crime.”
