Filipina singer and actress Lea Salonga was awkwardly introduced as a different person during her appearance on Sky News in the U.K.
During a live newscast of the morning show “Sunrise” on Sky News UK, news anchor Stephen Dixon introduced their guest as environmentalist Anna Hughes, Coconuts Manila reported.

The segment was edited out of the final version, but one lucky netizen managed to record the whole encounter and uploaded the video on YouTube on July 3.
“Now would you be prepared to give up flying for a whole year to help the planet? Well, the flight free campaign wants us to do just that. It wants 100,000 people to promise to give up flying for 2020. And one of those asking us to do that will be doing it herself is in environmental campaigner Anna Hughes,” Dixon said before the camera turns to a confused Salonga.
The 48-year-old singer was professional about the mishap and let Dixon finish his introduction.
“I am not Anna Hughes. I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s going on,” Salonga said laughing. “No, I’m not Anna Hughes. Sorry about that.”
The news anchor then realized that the copy he read was wrong.
“I was thinking, ‘I’m sure that’s Lea Salonga,’” Dixon said. “Why does Princess Jasmine not want to fly for a year?”
The show quickly cut to a break.
When it returned, Dixon admitted that they were “mortified” by what happened, telling everyone about Salonga’s accomplishments including her iconic role as Kim in the musical “Miss Saigon” as well as the singing voices for Princess Jasmine in the hit animated films “Aladdin” and “Mulan.”
Besides the awkward mistake during Salonga’s introduction, the interview reportedly went well.
