Kelly Marie Tran, the Vietnamese-American Actress who currently plays Rose Tico in the upcoming “Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker,” was recently met with a very heartwarming standing ovation during an event.
The wondrous moment happened during the “Star Wars Celebration” in Chicago over the weekend when the 30-year-old actress was introduced by talkshow host Stephen Colbert, according to AsAm News.

However, as she was being introduced, a round of applause echoed the hall at the McCormick Place last weekend. And suddenly, the audience began to give Tran a full 40-second standing ovation as they all chanted her name.
Wow, it’s really overwhelming,” she said as she tried to hold back her emotions.
Then later on, Tran spoke to Entertainment Tonight and admitted that she did not expect the heartfelt standing ovation from her fans when she was introduced by Colbert at the event, which is where Lucasfilm and Disney released the first look at the upcoming “Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker.”

I was very unprepared for that moment and very overwhelmed immediately and tried to shield my face,” she said in the interview.

I think it absolutely did,” Tran replied when she was asked if what happened was a healing moment. “I think that it also is not just for that, but for the whole franchise. Everyone is so emotional because we’re wrapping up this amazing thing and I cannot believe I still get to be here and be a part of that.”
To say Tran has had a very rough run during the past few months would be an understatement. Last June, she deleted all of her Instagram posts after being attacked by racist trolls online. Then, a Facebook hate group came forward that same month to take credit for all the racist attacks the actress received.
But a couple of months later, Tran surfaced on the web again and made an op-ed piece for the New York Times addressing what had happened.
