Neighbors came together to rescue a three-year-old boy who was hanging on for dear life from the sixth floor balcony of a residential building in southwestern China this week.
The shocking incident was caught on video and took place in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing on Monday.

As seen in the video, the toddler held onto the balcony’s iron fence before letting go and dropping towards the ground.
Fortunately, neighbors had formed a quilt at the bottom of the building to catch him.

It’s unclear how long the toddler had been hanging from the balcony.
“It’s very loud, there were screams and shouting,” described witness Liu, who lived on the 27th floor, according to Sina News.

Liu said that the boy held on to the balcony for a while.
“He struggled several times, grabbing the iron fence with both hands, climbing with his legs against the wall, nearly making it but sliding down.”

The child, whose parents were at work at the time of the incident, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The rescue video has since gone viral on Weibo, with many calling out the toddler’s parents to be more responsible.
“Regardless of the [building’s] management, the parents are guilty.”
“Are the adults dead? Aren’t there news of children falling down every day?”
“There’s still plenty of good people in this world, but about this child’s parents?”
“His parents must have seen these videos. I wonder what they feel playing them on a loop.”
“It’s a virtue to be nice. At the same time, I hope this child’s parents will make up proofing their home for hazards. I hope this sort of incident will not be repeated. Prevent problems before they happen.”
