Kevin O’Leary has always been quite the character on Shark Tank. He’s referred to as “Mr. Wonderful” and is known to consistently offer deals that requires the businesses to give him a royalty in perpetuity.

One thing you may not know is that Kevin O’Leary is from Canada and has a show called “The Lang and O’Leary Exchange.” During a recent episode, O’Leary seemed clearly happy of the fact that that the combined wealth of the world’s 85 richest people equals to more than half the world’s population.

“This is a great thing because it inspires everybody, gets them motivated to look up to the one percent and say, ‘I want to become one of those people, I’m going to fight hard to get up to the top.’”

His co-host Amanda Lang seemed taken aback by O’Leary’s statement as asked:

“So somebody living on $1 a day in Africa is getting up in the morning and saying, ‘I’m going to be Bill Gates?’”

“That’s the motivation everybody needs,” O’Leary said. “Don’t tell me that you want to redistribute wealth again. That’s never going to happen, OK?”

“It’s a celebratory stat,” he continued. “I’m very excited about it.”
