Rich Asian Men Are Buying Underage Cambodian Virgins for A Week of Sex

Allegedly, the virgin trade is a thriving, underground industry in the country. According to Post Magazine, it is especially popular among rich Asian men, with some convinced that engaging in virgin sex brings wellness and cures diseases.

These men are said to be Chinese, Koreans, Japanese and Cambodians themselves.

Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE), a non-government organization, investigates the said trade in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh. Representative Tim Huon claimed that “mamasans” scout and prep girls aged 13 to 18 for bidding.

Girls are allegedly brought to physicians to confirm that their hymen, the thin membrane covering the vagina, is intact. Such practice is deemed legal unless doctors are aware that sex trafficking is going on.

Men reportedly pay between $1,200 and $2,500 for a week with the virgin.

In compensation, the virgin receives 30% to 60% of the fee; the mamasan gets the remainder of the amount.

Prostitution is illegal in Cambodia. However, the practice allegedly persists in many areas, reports said. The involvement of minors is another issue.

Last year, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) expressed concern for Cambodia’s “orphanage tourism, which seems to be a growing phenomenon where children in institutions and orphanages are being exposed to sexual exploitation by foreigners.”
