Barack Obama had a moment at a Japanese restaurant in Hawaii during his last vacation as president of the United States.
Weeks before moving out of the White House, Barack, Michelle and their two daughters went to Hawaii for vacation. The trip to the then-president’s home state started on Dec. 16 and lasted for two weeks.
Barack spent the time handling executive business but also got a bit of recreation in. On the evening of Dec. 28, the family had dinner at the sushi restaurant Nobu after touring a center for Islamic art and culture, U.S. News reported.
Diners grabbed their phones to take photos as soon as they noticed his presence. As he took his seat, they gave him a warm round of applause.
To ensure security, Secret Service inspected everyone coming inside the establishment while snipers watched from the rooftop, TMZ said.
Around 100 people reportedly cheered on the street as the family left the restaurant’s premises by 10:30 in the evening.
