Chinese boxer Lü Bin is probably the most heartbroken athlete at this year’s Olympics, and we totally understand why.
Well, he thought he had won the match against Kenya’s Peter Warui, until reality slapped him hard.
According to Sina, the result was 2-1 in favor of Peter. It was a Light Fly (46 – 49 kg) battle.
Lü was in tears after the announcement, taking his feelings to Weibo later: “The judges stole my dream.”
Netizens were quick to share his sentiment. The post was liked over 300,000 times, garnering at least 200,000 comments.
According to Shanghaiist, CCTV hypothesized that the judges conspired against China. Weibo commenters also thought that the match was fixed.
Lü’s experience is pretty traumatic, but the bitterness coming from wrong announcements seems more intense – especially when the crown was already yours for few minutes.
