A South Korean rapper was arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend while they were having sex.
The alleged violence occurred in September. During a sexual encounter, rapper Iron reportedly beat his girlfriend, identified only as “A”, in the face because she refused his demands, Seoul Central Police said. After two weeks, A decided to break up with him, but this was only the beginning of the bizarre case.
According to Soompi, Iron choked and beat A’s face once again, this time fracturing her left pinky. In addition, the rapper allegedly stabbed himself in the right thigh to prevent her from calling the police, threatening that he would say she was responsible for his injury.
Iron, born Jung Heon Cheol, broke his silence shortly after with a completely different story. He said (via Allkpop):
“I want to tell you my side of the story accurately because only what the other side alleged, which is untrue, made headlines.”
Iron said he first met his girlfriend for an album jacket photoshoot, where she was the model. The 25-year-old recalled:
“Her biggest problem was that she was a masochist in sexual sadomasochism. In the beginning, I was really shocked. She always asked me to be violent. She said that’s the only way she was satisfied. It was never physical assault. It was self-defense against her ruthless violence.”
He insisted on not harming others:
“I was so afraid of her in that state, and I found out she has a boyfriend so we broke up. She was my girlfriend once, so I know the kind of warped mentality she can have. As I got to know her, the more I felt extreme dread. I did not harshly assault the woman nor did I threaten her. I’m a person with a lot of flaws, but I have not caused harm to others or hurt them because of my wants.”
Iron appears to be a pretty controversial artist in the Korean music scene. Last year, his name was dragged in a marijuana scandal, with reports claiming that he did so in order to boost his confidence and focus.
