It’s always fun to watch when professional companies get into their own antics in the name of brand building and entertainment.
In this video. Companies like UPS and TNT were hired to deliver large black boxes to addresses that were particularly hard to find. However, the boxes were actually covered in a temperature-activated ink that turns black when it is cooled to near freezing temperatures. When the boxes warmed back to room temperature during delivery, the black ink disappeared revealing a large yellow box with the phrase “DHL is faster” on the side.
Sources initially said that DHL was indeed behind the brilliant stunt. However, a representative at DHL issued the following statement today to Consumerist:
“This was not something that was initiated by DHL,” a rep for the company tells Consumerist in an e-mail. “The video was created by an external agency for their own internal competition. We were aware in advance of the intention to use it for this purpose. We were not aware of any plans to share it externally.”
Regardless of who did it. Well played sir or madam, well played.
