If you ever wondered how much the guy (or girl) who provides drugs for performing artists on tour gets paid, here you go.
According to Billboard, the average blunt roller/drug holder makes around $500 a week plus hotel and travel to practice their highly specialized and sophisticated craft.
It might sound like an awesome gig, and it’s probably really fun in reality, but let’s put that into perspective.
Let’s take Kanye West’s Yeezus Tour, which took place between October 19, 2013 and September 15, 2014, for example. Kanye West performed in 53 shows. In total, that time amounts to 331 days, or 47 whole weeks. At $500 dollars a week just to roll the best blunt wraps, that’s about $23,643 of taxable income for the whole tour.
A blunt roller on the Yeezus Tour would have spent almost a whole year traveling around the United States, Canada and Australia for free, but at the end only walk away with less than $25,000 and some incredible memories. It’s actually not that much considering rapper Wacka Flocka Flame would have paid more than twice as much for a whole year of blunt rolling.
Maybe you’d do it for the money, or maybe just for the experience — either way, the only people making less than you would be the groupies.
Here’s Billboard’s breakdown of where the money goes for each member of the crew during concert tours.
