Sometimes there are things we just have to do to be successful in life, like working really hard in school to get the best grades, dominate an interview to get that perfect job,  or get on your knees and go down on your boss.  Wait, what?  Yeah that’s right, sometimes “you gotto do what you gotto do” to survive, it’s sometimes as simple as seeing the opportunity and taking it.  And ‘slut’ applies to both women and men in this case, even though we know they mean two different things normally.  Straight guys are totally capable of whoring themselves out for a raise, and not just with female bosses either.  Needless to say, this economy has made us hungry, but is it right? More importantly, do we care enough that it’s wrong to not do it ourselves?

A survey done by careerbuilder.com found that 34% of workers have hooked up with their boss before.  Unsurprisingly, 47% of the time it was women hooking up with their male supervisor while 38% of men hooked up with their female supervisor. Another survey by the Center for Work-Life Policy found that 15% of women have slept with their bosses with 37% of those women say they were rewarded.  What about executive women?  15% of women at the director level or above admitted to having affairs with co-workers.  Further statistics show that the vast majority of men would sleep with their female bosses for a promotion.  Some guys might say otherwise, but the rest of us are honest with ourselves.

Let’s not kid ourselves, we’ve all thought about it. Maybe you’ll tell yourself it’ll just be a one time thing.  You can literally bet your ass that it won’t be just once and you might find that your male boss is always holding something over your head so that you spread your legs or that you’ve become your female boss’s fuck boy if you are a guy.  Remember that you aren’t just fucking your boss, you are fucking yourself. You might as well go the whole nine yards and secretly videotape it. Sexual harassment blackmail? Profit?

And don’t forget the office drama. Keeping your dirty laundry private is really tough. When your co-workers find out, they won’t just be jelly, they’ll be pissed. They aren’t wrong either. According to the CWLP survey, 61% of men and 70% of women lose respect for a boss involved in an affair. Most workers will assume you are getting special treatment and the survey shows that 48% of men and 56% of women will feel animosity towards the involved couple. To add the icing on the cake, 39% of men and 37% of women see a fall off in productivity as your work team falls apart.  Is that worth a promotion? The lesson is that it’s not fair for anyone and that it can jeopardize the entire business.

So, would you still sleep with your boss if it was worth it for you?  It’s funny how decisions like this go from being either right or wrong to paid or broke, but in tough times you got to survive right? Imagine if you had kids. So should you sleep with your boss to get ahead? Every case is different, but sadly the reality is that sometimes you have to just to make ends meet. The point here is that you should just go ahead and do you as long as you can face yourself in the mirror, but when shit hits the fan, you knew it could happen.

Have you or someone you know slept with their boss to get ahead?
